2017 Annual Report • Police Department • St. Anthony Village, Minnesota <br /> <br /> <br />36 | P a g e <br /> <br />XV. 2017 Accomplishments <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Finalized Body Worn Camera Policy. <br /> Body Worn Camera grant awarded to the police department through the Bureau of <br />Justice Assistance Body-Worn Camera Policy and Implementation Program (PIP). <br /> Participated in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration study to improve <br />traffic safety, education and recent trends. <br /> Trained and certified two new field training officers. (South and Schlingman) <br /> Trained, certified and assigned an Officer to the Community Engagement Unit. <br /> Implemented Police Department Social Media platform; including Facebook, Twitter <br />and Instagram. <br /> Developed and implemented coinciding department policy reference social media. <br /> All POST licensed Police Officers, our Community Service Officer (CSO) and our <br />office manager successfully completed Procedural Justice Training. <br /> All POST licensed St. Anthony Officers, and our Community Service Officer (CSO), <br />successfully completed "Fair & Impartial Policing" training. <br /> Completed department annual POST Board mandated training in areas of Use of <br />Force, Firearm’s and Emergency Vehicle Operation. <br /> Attended ICAT (Integrating Communication, Assessment and Tactics) seminar, <br />which provided a training guide for defusing critical incidents to be used in <br />conjunction with Use of Force and Critical Incident training. Training sponsored <br />through the DOJ COPS Office. (Mangseth, Spiess, Diegnau, Huddle and Sroga) <br /> Trained and certified two officers as FIP Instructors. <br /> Trained and nationally certified (National Tactical Officers Association) one new <br />multi-agency tactical team officer. (Lazenberry) <br /> Trained and nationally certified one new department Firearms Instructor. (Erdman) <br /> Promoted a new Lieutenant. (Diegnau) <br /> Promoted one new Sergeant. (Sroga) <br /> The Minnesota Department of Public Safety recognized St. Anthony, among nine <br />other agencies in Ramsey County, with the Toward Zero Deaths (TZD) <br />Commissioner’s Award for their outstanding enforcement and education efforts. <br /> Completed 2017 Internship for George Oyoo (Reserve Officer). Now employed by <br />the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office. <br /> Enhanced the police department employee wellness program, to include a chaplaincy <br />program, as part of a three pronged approach to employee strength, wellness and <br />resiliency. <br /> Three members of our police staff volunteer with a structured mentorship program <br />with Century College. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
