<br />2017 Annual Report • Administration • St. Anthony Village, Minnesota <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />42 <br /> <br />The Historical Society also has digitized their most prized possessions: Records of births and <br />deaths from 1870 until 1900 and the St. Anthony Township Annual meeting minutes from 1858 <br />to the Village’s incorporation as a city in 1945. The birth and death records and township <br />meeting minutes are available on the St. Anthony Village Historical Society’s webpage through <br />the City of St. Anthony website and also on the Minnesota Historical Society’s website. <br />The St Anthony Village Historical Society is currently supporting further work of Gail D. Olson, <br />gathering stories about people’s experiences surviving and picking up after the tornado St. <br />Anthony experienced April 26th, 1984. This disaster affected many people, residences, and <br />businesses in the community. A book with these stories will soon be published and available in <br />2018. Watch for “Hit the Deck and Pray”. <br />The St. Anthony Village Historical Society is governed by its’ Board of Trustees - a group of <br />committed volunteers. They appreciate community support whether monetarily, purchasing its <br />books or participating in its programs. Mission: To collect, preserve, and disseminate historical <br />knowledge about the City of St. Anthony Village <br /> <br />St. Anthony Kiwanis <br />"We build" is a guiding principle for the <br />members of the Kiwanis Club of St. Anthony Village. Through volunteering and service <br />projects, they build relationships with people of all ages. <br />The St. Anthony Kiwanis chapter began in 1962 and has grown to 44 men and women. The club <br />sponsors three youth service clubs: a K-Kids Club (45 members) at Wilshire Park Elementary <br />School, a Builders Club (53 members) at St. Anthony Middle School, and a Key Club (31 <br />members) at St. Anthony High School. We also support an Aktion Club (14 members), which <br />offers activities for mentally and physically challenged adults. Each of these service clubs <br />provides members with opportunities to perform service, build character and develop skills. <br />Just visit any of these clubs and you will witness how students can make a difference in their <br />school, and community. <br />You may have noticed Kiwanis members handing out peanuts on street corners or at businesses. <br />Peanut Day is one of the most important fundraising days of the year. Not only do the members <br />give away peanuts, it's also their way of thanking the many people who contribute money to the
