This includes public facilities and public <br />metered uses. Institutional water-use records are typically <br />maintained for emergency planning and allocation purposes. <br />• Commercial uses consist of water used by motels, hotels, <br />restaurants, office buildings, and commercial facilities. <br />• Industrial uses consist of water used for thermoelectric power <br />(electric utility generation) and other industrial uses such as steel, <br />chemical and allied products, food processing, paper and allied <br />products, mining, and petroleum refining. <br />• Wholesale deliveries consist of bulk water sales to other public <br />water suppliers. <br />• Unaccounted water is the volume of water withdrawn from all <br />sources minus the volume sold. <br />• Non-essential water uses as defined by Minnesota Statutes <br />103G.291, include lawn sprinkling, vehicle washing, golf course and <br />park irrigation, and other non-essential uses. Some of the above <br />categories also include non-essential uses of water.
