Resolution 18-042; a Resolution supporting the Contamination Grant Application 1 <br />submitted to the Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) by 2 <br />The Village, LLC for Environmental Remediation at 2501 Lowry Avenue. 3 <br /> 4 <br />City Planner Rothstein presented the revised resolution for Council approval. She explained the 5 <br />City needs to be the agency making the request, more information was requested from DEED, 6 <br />and the City was allowed to resubmit the grant application. 7 <br /> 8 <br />Ms. Caroline Elling, Landmark Environmental, noted they are the environmental consultant 9 <br />working with The Village LLC. Changes in DEED’s protocol most likely required the additional 10 <br />information and they have approved the revised resolution. 11 <br /> 12 <br />Motion by Councilmember Jenson, seconded by Councilmember Gray, approve Resolution 18-13 <br />042; a Resolution supporting the Contamination Grant Application submitted to the Department 14 <br />of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) by The Village, LLC for Environmental 15 <br />Remediation at 2501 Lowry Avenue. 16 <br /> 17 <br />Motion carried 5-0. 18 <br /> 19 <br />B. Resolution 18-043; a Resolution to approve a request to keep four (4) female chickens in 20 <br />an R-1 zoning district at 3609 33rd Avenue NE. 21 <br /> 22 <br />City Planner Rothstein reviewed staff received an inquiry from the Applicant on May 8, 2018 23 <br />requesting information in order to have chickens on their property. The applicant (Paige Buck) 24 <br />provided an overview of their plans and they plan to keep the coop near the northeast corner of 25 <br />their property line, inside their 6-foot chain link fence. The coop location is more than 25 feet 26 <br />from any structures, the closest of which is their neighbor’s barn/garage to the east. They also 27 <br />stated there are 14 feet to the north before a neighboring wooden fence. They have discussed 28 <br />their plans with their neighbors who are supportive of their intentions to keep chickens. 29 <br /> 30 <br />Councilmember Randle asked if there are any other chickens in the pipeline and Ms. Rothstein 31 <br />stated generally in the spring is when people wish to have chickens and she does not have any 32 <br />more requests currently. Councilmember Randle suggested residents discuss this with their 33 <br />neighbors. 34 <br /> 35 <br />Motion by Councilmember Randle, seconded by Councilmember Jenson, approve Resolution 18-36 <br />043; a Resolution approving a request to keep four (4) female chickens in an R-1 zoning district 37 <br />at 3609 33rd Avenue NE. 38 <br /> 39 <br />Motion carried 5-0. 40 <br /> 41 <br />C.
