REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION

Meeting Date: January 22, 2019

Proposed Changes to Parks Commission

OVERVIEW:

In front of you this evening are proposed changes to Chapter 32.20 to 32.39 Parks Commission. On
December 3, 2018, the Parks Commission unanimously recommended the attached proposed changes.
One potential issue would be with their proposed non-voting liaison. There are currently nine
microphones on the city council dais and this would add a tenth person at the dais. This could be
problematic for the official meeting minute taker who does the minutes remotely from watching the
meeting on-line.
For reference, below are the current nine Parks Commission attendees:
1. Erin Jordahl Redlin, Chair
2. Therese Bellinger, Vice-chair
3. Marnie Overman, Commissioner
4. Sara Ksiazek, Commissioner
5. Jessica Rengstorf, Commissioner
6. Wendy Webster, Community Services – non voting
7. Cassandra Palmer, School Board – non-voting
8. Aye Keita, Student Liaison – non-voting
9. Jay Hartman, Staff Liaison

Chair Jordahl Redlin will be in attendance to present. If the City Council choses to amend the city
code with any of the proposed changes, the next step would be for staff to prepare an amended
ordinance for Chapter 32.20 to 32.39 Parks Commission. The revised ordinance will be placed on the
City Council agenda for three readings prior to adoption.

41
