Concerns of hazards of smoke from <br />campfires is an issue that is being discussed. We have heard of no jurisdiction taking action to <br />ban them as of yet. We will continue to monitor the situation and report any concerns or <br />recommendations. <br /> <br />FIRE INVESTIGATIONS <br /> <br />Fire cause determination is also a function of the Fire Marshal position. Currently Capt. Basara <br />and Lt. Jaros have completed the state’s training for investigation. Assistant Chief Fuller, Captain <br />Basara and Lieutenant Jaros have received fire cause determination training from different fire <br />agencies, Technical Colleges as well as private entities. Assistant Chief Fuller currently belongs <br />to the Minnesota chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators (MN IAAI). <br /> <br />In 2018 we had 3 incidents involving fire that resulted in at least $500 in damage. <br /> <br />Incident Damage <br />Passenger Vehicle Fire $13,000 vehicle <br /> Cause determined to be result of collision with another vehicle <br /> <br />Passenger Vehicle Fire $2,000 <br /> Cause of ignition undetermined, Engine Compartment Fire - Unintentional <br /> <br />Kitchen Fire in Apartment Bldg. $50,000 property damage, $2,500 Contents <br /> Cause of ignition was a burner being accidentally turned. Unintentional <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
