2018 Annual Report • Fire Department • St. Anthony Village, Minnesota

52 | P a g e

its limitations but also its capabilities. That engine served the city and surrounding
communities extremely well when it was called upon. It had been our first out piece of
apparatus for a number of years and always performed well. It was a great piece of apparatus to
train on and it really was the foundation for a number of people to learn how to drive and
pump. It helped create that experience for many in the department including myself.
The day-to-day experiences that our folks go through is something that continually pays off
when it comes to providing service to the community. Positive and negative outcomes are
taken from what we have learned and the hope is to learn from it and pass that on to the next
group who will be succeeding us.
Each call that we go on gives us something new to consider but also aids in increasing our
experience. One of the many areas that I believe we excel at is involving all of our personnel. We
need our folks to be confident, competent, smooth and exact when it comes to their jobs. All of
that is done through our training, our educating, our failures and our successes.
In 2018 we lost a lot of experience through retirement and the passing of life. We did however
gain so much more through the sharing, the involving, and the actual participation of getting
the job done. We did a tremendous job of accomplishing our goals and objectives and doing so
in a safe and productive way. I am extremely proud of this department and the experience that
we currently have working for it.
With that I respectfully submit my 2018 annual report.

Mark S.
