2018 Annual Report • Police Department • St. Anthony Village, Minnesota

33 | P a g e

Building confidence in each student is
helped by role playing. If the student
learns to feel good and feel confident,
they learn to make better choices.
DARE also helps/teaches the student’s
good decision making skills that help
them avoid high risk behavior so they
grow up healthy, safe and secure. Having an officer in the classroom also builds trust among
the students and the officer.
In addition to teaching DARE, Officer Schlingman also spent time at the St Anthony
Middle/High School acting as a School Resource Officer. As the
part time school resource officer, relationships are built with
students and parents to assist in solving problems and to help
build relationships between each other. DARE continues to be a
vital component to positive interaction between the police
department and the young people in our community. It helps us
join together with the schools and parents to help kids make safe
and healthy choices.
