<br /> PR O C L A M A T I O N <br /> <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Trees and forest soils keep our lakes and streams clean by absorbing and filtering <br />pollutants and sediments; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Forest soils prevent flooding and reduce stormwater by capturing and storing <br />rainwater and snowmelt, which is then slowly released to our lakes, streams, and <br />groundwater; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Careful management of our forests is one of the best ways to protect drinking water and <br />reduce the cost of water treatment; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Sound management of forested public lands surrounding the Mississippi River ensures <br />clean drinking water for more than one million Minnesotans; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, About three-quarters of Minnesotans get their drinking water from the forested parts of <br />the state; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Planting trees is a natural and easy way to keep our water clean; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The last Friday in April, and throughout the month of May, Minnesotans pay special <br />tribute to our trees as natural resources and rededicate ourselves to the vitality of our <br />forests. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the St. Anthony Village City Council hereby designates <br />FRIDAY, APRIL 26, 2019 as ST. ANTHONY ARBOR DAY and the month of MAY 2019, as ARBOR <br />MONTH in St. Anthony Village. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Jerome O.
