3 <br /> <br />EQC Accomplishments 2016-17 <br /> <br /> Recognized five residents with 2016 Green Community Award during a City Council <br />Meeting. Residents were recognized for their environmental initiatives including rain <br />garden installation and solar panel use. <br /> Sponsored the 2017 Environmental Speaker Series. The topics included the following: <br /> Surface Water Management <br /> Shoreview Drinking Water <br /> Helping Bees <br /> Preventing Food Waste <br /> Provided articles for ShoreViews covering a variety of topics including recycling and <br />composting, water conservation, sustainable waste disposal, and tree maintenance. <br /> Met with council in a work session to discuss EQC work plan and initiatives. <br /> Reviewed applicants for membership to the EQC and made recommendations to the City <br />Council. <br /> Developed a solar initiative through touring regional public and private solar <br />installations, attending solar garden workshops, meeting with solar installers, and <br />collaborating with other entities in the metro with shared interest in solar. Presented <br />proposal to the City Council for installing a Solar Garden on the City Municipal building. <br /> Investigated options for city curb side compost pickup. <br /> Provided Environmental review and recommendations to the City Council on public and <br />private development projects. <br /> Provided Environmental review of Minnesota Snow and Ice Management Policy. <br /> Provided input on proposed Beekeeping ordinance. <br /> Discussed and provided input on the Gramsie Road and Grass Lake Area flooding <br />situation. <br /> Discussed and monitored progress of the Water Conservation initiative using smart water <br />monitoring and reporting. <br /> Set 2017-18 committee goals. <br />
