Parks Commission Regular Meeting Minutes <br />March 4, 2019 <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />Quarterly Update, February Bill Clinics, Other Involvements, Projects in the Works, and 1 <br />Upcoming Spring Events. She noted the organics drop-off site is fully open and operational. 2 <br /> 3 <br />Commissioner Rengstorf stated she is willing to assist Ms. Saulog with the bike event. 4 <br /> 5 <br />Public Works Director Hartman asked where the quarterly update can be viewed and Ms. 6 <br />Saulog stated it will be on the City website. 7 <br /> 8 <br />Chair Jordahl Redlin asked if Ramsey County has reported any garbage dumping in the 9 <br />organics recycling and Ms. Saulog stated she does not monitor it so she does not know. The 10 <br />hauler has not reported any problems. 11 <br /> 12 <br />E. Citizens for Sustainability Updates 13 <br /> 14 <br />Ms. Lona Doolan provided an update on the Sustainability Initiatives within the City. Ms. 15 <br />Doolan provided a powerpoint presentation “Beyond Pollinator Pathways – Ready and 16 <br />Resilient St. Anthony”. Covered in the presentation were Vital Role of Pollinators in our 17 <br />Community, Climate Change and Resilient Communities, St. Anthony Pollinator Pathway 18 <br />Project, Pollinator Protections and Reconciliation Ecology, Ready and Resilient St. Anthony 19 <br />and St. Anthony Comprehensive Plan. A draft resolution was provided for Commission 20 <br />review. Ms. Doolan presented opportunity to improve park functions. The Commission was 21 <br />asked to evaluate the greenspace between Trillium and Silver Point Parks with the idea these 22 <br />parks could be connected. Ms. Doolan announced the park clean-up – April 27. She asked for 23 <br />one of the Park Commissioners to lead the effort at Emerald Park. 24 <br /> 25 <br />Ms. Palmer asked who Ms. Doolan is working with at the school district and Ms. Doolan 26 <br />stated there is a Green Team they have been working with. 27 <br /> 28 <br />Commissioner Rengstorf asked about the St. Anthony Pollinator Pathway Grant and whether 29 <br />the funds are depleted. Ms. Doolan stated the 2016 funds are depleted. 30 <br /> 31 <br />Commissioner Overman asked about the pathway between Trillium and Silver Point Parks 32 <br />and Ms. Doolan stated there are some townhomes and private homes. 33 <br /> 34 <br />Commissioner Bellinger asked how people can connect with Ms. Doolan to get involved and 35 <br />Ms. Doolan stated there is a website, and they are on facebook. 36 <br /> 37 <br />VII. COMMISSION REPORTS. 38 <br /> 39 <br />Mr. Hartman reported a number of improvements were done to Central Park Pavilion. It is 40 <br />scheduled for an exterior staining in 2019. Some other spring 2019 projects are retrofitting to 41 <br />all athletic lighting to LEDs. They will be working with the school district on the water re-use 42 <br />project at Central Park splash pad. It has been a great year for the outdoor skating facilities 43 <br />within the City. 44 <br /> 45
