Parks Commission Meeting Minutes <br />January 29, 2001 <br />Page 7 <br />Jindra asked if it was graded per specifications or if there was some recourse. Mr. Hartman <br />restated it was designed for and graded to act as a retention area and trying to make it a rink is a <br />stretch. He assured the Commission that it will work better next year. <br />Zurbey asked if the contractor should pay for the regrading. Mr. Hartman stated he will research <br />that issue. <br />VIII. REPORTS. <br />A. Community Services. <br />Skrivseth stated they will be meeting this Thursday, February 1, 2001. <br />B. School Board. <br />No report was received. <br />C. Sports Boosters. <br />Jindra noted the information from the Sports Boosters and advised they gave $3,000 for the <br />drinking fountain and there may be more funding to come. <br />Zurbey advised that charitable gambling is down but they just started a new raffle. <br />Jindra suggested a formal letter be drafted to request funding from the Lions. Zurbey stated he <br />would like to first meet with them to discuss these ideas. He stated he will call to request a <br />meeting date. <br />IX. OTHER BUSINESS. <br />Mr. Hartman reported that the Council has changed their schedule to include one regular meeting <br />and one work session per month. <br />Jindra reported on her attendance at the recent Council retreat and discussion held on goals. She <br />advised she asked about inviting a Police Officer to discuss park patrolling and asked for the <br />Commissioners to provide additional ideas. <br />Ganley reported on the Northwest Quadrant meeting he attended and reported the group will next <br />get input from developers. He advised that the Salvation Army property should be considered as <br />"open" for now and a community -wide discussion will be held. <br />Jindra stated at the Council retreat, a letter was distributed from Hennepin County Parks <br />indicating they had made a market value offer. <br />X.
