The playground layout in Sheet 5 of the drawing plans was developed based on
the general list and should be used as a guide. Each vendor should adhere to the sidewalk
edge but is free to design the play systems within the playground boundary.
All designs must meet or exceed all ADA requirements and shall provide the end user the
best play experience possible. We realize the general list has components from different
vendors and the layout shown in the plan showed a layout from a specific vendor,
however, it should be noted that the layout was for general guideline only in relationship
to the overall part: plan.
The $100,000 allowance is for furnishing and installing the play equipment which
includes all related play component installation. General excavation is under a different
pay item which will be done by the General Contractor. playground surface (wood fiber)
and poured -in-place resilient surface are under different pay items as well.
In designing the play systems, vendors must address the ADA requirements, safety zone
and value of play experience based upon a maximum allowance of $100,000. This cost is
the threshold amt should not be the main driver of the refined design.
