Parks Commission Meeting Minutes
September 9, 2002
Page 2
2 Mr. Forbrook stated they were still looking for the shingles they would be using for the building.
3
4 Chair Jindra stated the weather has been an issue and they were a little disturbed regarding the
5 lack of progress from the builders. She asked if Mr. Forbrook was aware of this. Mr. Forbrook
6 stated that they were aware of this and this has been the worst year for weather hardship. He
7 stated now that the brick is delivered to the site, they should be getting the building completed
8 quickly.
10 Mr. Zurbey stated that the park has been back-filled for a month so there should not have been a
11 problem with the weather. Mr. Hartman stated the problem was getting the block. He stated the
12 block was just delivered to the site.
13
14 Chair Jindra asked if Mr. Forbrook was satisfied with the progress. Mr. Forbrook stated he did
15 not have any reason to believe this would not get done and there should not be many more
16 delays. He stated they were all disappointed that it had not progressed faster.
17
18 Mr. Zurbey asked if there was a building permit that was paid for or did the City need to buy a
19 permit. Mr. Forbrook stated it was usually the builder that would buy the permit. Mr. Hartman
20 stated a permit was pulled.
2
22 Mr. Zurbey asked if any inspectors were brought out yet. Mr. Hartman stated there was and the
23 project would not be this far along if it was not inspected. Mr. Hartman stated that it should be
24 progressing soon otherwise the builder would be in conflict with other projects they have lined
25 up, if that has not already occurred.
26
27 Mr. Forbrook stated the other issue they needed to talk about was Silver Point Park. He stated
28 the two projects were bid together and the bids were supposed to be held for one hundred days.
29 He stated it was beyond the one hundred days so they asked the builder to get new prices and
30 Thompson Homes raised their profit because they felt at this point they were two projects instead
31 of one. He stated the bid came in at $30,000 over the original bid and an additional amount for
32 winter building.
33
34 Chair Jindra asked if they decided to drop Thompson Homes could they take the second bidder.
35 Mr. Hartman stated the second bidder was a lot higher but the bids were from being bid together
36 as one project. Chair Jindra stated she thought they were pretty close. Mr. Hartman stated he
37 would need to check the numbers because the projects were bid as one.
38
39 Mr. Anderson stated the DNR had held back funding on the building. It was noted that Mr.
40 Todd Hubner mentioned the agreement was signed two weeks ago. Mr. Zurbey asked if the
41 DNR would pay for the difference. Mr. Hartman stated they would need to check into this and
42 he did not think it would be worth holding this until spring because the cost would not be that
4_ big a difference, possibly seven thousand more, not to exceed ten thousand.
44
45 Chair Jindra asked what Mr. Forbrook's opinion was on this. Mr. Forbrook stated that he did not
