5

3. There are fifteen long sections of tall fence at the west end of the fence row. There is a
gap under the fence, running almost the entire fifteen-section distance. There is no
concrete ‘curbing’ underneath this fence.
This fencing is in Out-Of-Bounds territory for the field, past the foul territory off to the
side of Right Field. This area is commonly used for throwing practice, and the fence
should provide a good backstop for young players to work on their throwing (and
catching) skills. However, the gap underneath the fence makes this ‘backstop’ largely
useless for this purpose, as a very large percentage of errant throws (of which there are
a lot with young Players) go under the fence into the neighbors’ yards.
We would like to pursue a solution to fill this gap, whether it be concrete (Jay Hartman
preference if a fill is used) – or fence enhancement.

(D) Additional Items – Unrelated Solutions:

Wilshire Park Elementary School Field (School District Field):
• There are currently three ‘permanent’ Pitching Rubbers installed on the Wilshire Park Field.
Softball uses the one closest to Home Plate - @ 35 ft., and has no interest in the other two.
Baseball would like to have one Pitching Rubber farther out (away from home plate), and will
settle on the distance desired, “combining” the needs of In-House and Traveling Baseball, and
communicate that distance to us in future correspondence, soon, to enable replacement of the
two farther out Pitching Rubbers with one at a new distance yet To Be Determined.
Before the start of the 2020 season(s), we would like to reduce the number of ‘permanently
installed’ Pitching Rubbers on the Wilshire Park Field to two: a “Softball” one @ 35 ft. – and a
“Baseball” one, at the desired distance (TBD).
However, in the absence of a determination by Boosters Baseball regarding the “combined”
distance desired for the second Pitching Rubber at WP, we are in agreement that the middle
Pitching Rubber should be removed, regardless of whether the farthest one from Home Plate is
relocated.

Emerald Park (City Park Field):
• There are only two ‘permanent’ Pitching Rubbers installed on the Emerald Park Field. Softball
uses the one closest to Home Plate - @ 35 ft., and has no interest in the other one. Baseball
may pursue moving the (further out) Pitching Rubber to a new distance; Softball has no
objection to the movement of the (further away from Home Plate) ‘permanent’ Pitching Rubber.

AEB. 8/15/19.
