Event Plan- Wednesday December 11th, 2019 5pm – 930pm The unofficial would like to expand on the festivities of this evening by setting up an outdoor kiosk for the purpose of serving hot and food and beverages to the people who will be showing up early to enjoy the holiday train. The past couple years we have learned that on this night, The Unofficial turns into the neighborhood warming house and bathroom stop. And we are more than happy to provide this! But we think we could better serve the neighborhood if we could expand our facility for this evening. We would like to cone off a section of our parking lot on the south side of the building opposite 37th place. In this area we would like to set up a sort of oasis for people to escape the madness of the crowd. After watching people crowd into The Unofficial and squish past each other with children and strollers to try to get to our bathroom, or warm up for a short time. We think this would be a welcome addition. In our oasis we plan to set up a tent. Under the tent we will have heaters for comfort. And for added entertainment we will have a stage set up to feature some local live music. We plan to have the music start at 5pm and ply until just before the train. The music will resume after the train event for one last set and conclude at 930pm so as not to disturb our neighbors as we realize that it is a school night. We also plan to rent up to 3 porta potty’s, depending on how many are already in the municipal plan, so folks don’t have to battle to use the limited facilities inside our building. We will also offer warm sandwiches and beverages; coffee, hot cocoa, apple cider, and assorted soda. We plan to offer alcohol to our neighbors. Our trained and experienced bartenders will oversee this to ensure that we are diligent with age verification and general responsible service. We will require that all alcohol is consumed within our cone area. And that none can be carried off where our staff is unable to monitor and manage its consumption.
