ANTHONY 1 <br />CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING MINUTES 2 <br />OCTOBER 22, 2019 3 <br />4 <br />CALL TO ORDER. 5 <br />6 <br />Mayor Faust called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. 7 <br />8 <br />PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE. 9 <br />10 <br />Mayor Faust invited the Council and audience to join him in the Pledge of Allegiance. 11 <br />12 <br />ROLL CALL. 13 <br />14 <br />Present: Mayor Faust, Councilmembers Gray, Jenson, Randle and Stille. 15 <br />Absent: None 16 <br />Also Present: Finance Director Shelly Rueckert, and Assistant to the City Manager Charlie Yunker. 17 <br />Guests: Captain Jess Spiess and Officer Jim South 18 <br />19 <br />CONSIDERATION, DISCUSSION, AND POSSIBLE ACTION ON ALL OF THE FOLLOWING 20 <br />ITEMS. 21 <br />22 <br />I.APPROVAL OF OCTOBER 22, 2019 CITY COUNCIL MEETING AGENDA. 23 <br />24 <br />Motion by Councilmember Gray, seconded by Councilmember Randle, to approve the City 25 <br />Council Meeting Agenda of October 22, 2019. 26 <br />27 <br />Motion carried 5-0. 28 <br />29 <br />II.PROCLAMATIONS AND RECOGNITIONS. 30 <br />31 <br />A.Body Worn Cameras Presentation.32 <br />33 <br />Captain Jeff Spiess and Officer Jim South made a presentation to the City Council on body worn 34 <br />cameras and integrated technology in the Police Department. 35 <br />36 <br />Councilmember Gray thanked the Police Officers for the update. He stated one of the things he 37 <br />learned in the Body Cam Workgroup was that the data was going to be very difficult to deal 38 <br />with, one of the big challenges, and wondered if there have been many data requests. Captain 39 <br />Spiess indicated the Police Department has not had any data requests for body worn cam video. 40 <br />He explained the Statute made it easier for them to deal with that. 41 <br />42 <br />Councilmember Randle stated he was not really onboard with the cameras in the beginning, but 43 <br />it was more from the City being this size and the cost attached to it. He indicated he was wrong 44 <br />and thought it has been beneficial from a transparency standpoint and beneficial for the City and 45 <br />the Police Department and has been a great tool. 46 <br />47 <br />Councilmember Jenson appreciated the Police Officer’s enthusiasm of the process and willing to 48 <br />embrace it. 49 <br />1
