Phase 3: Seeding a Pollinator Garden
We propose completing the final 25’ with a second method of
direct sowing; starting seeds in the garden rather than start with
transplants.
Benefits:
•Provides an alternative style of garden
•Uses a mix of annuals and perennials to get blooms in 1st
season
•Easier to install
•Cost effective
7
Opportunity for 2020
8
Opportunity: State of Minnesota is offering Legume to
Lawns grants to convert turf grass into Bee Lawns.
Recommendation: Public Works evaluate other areas
within community parks where terrain is challenging to
maintain and identify where we might want to expand
Bee Lawns to reduce risks in maintenance.
Our experience in seeding this first flowering lawn is the process is
much easier than installing a traditional garden.
