REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION <br />Meeting Date: January 14, 2020 <br />OVERVIEW: <br />In front of you, this evening is a Resolution to appoint a vacancy on the St. Anthony Village City Council. <br />During the November 5, 2019 Municipal Election, Councilmember Stille obtained the greatest number of <br />votes for the office of Mayor and assumed his new role on January 6, 2020. Councilmember Stille’s <br />remaining term will be less than two years and therefore the city can appoint an individual to finish out his <br />term, which ends January 3, 2022. At the November 26, 2019 City Council meeting, a motion was passed, <br />with current Mayor Faust and Councilmember Gray abstaining, to follow the below process below: <br />•Posting on City website applications to fill the vacancy until noon on Friday, December 13, 2019 <br />•Eligibility <br />o St. Anthony Village resident. <br />o Eligible to vote in Minnesota. <br />o Am or will be on assuming office, 21 years of age or more. <br />o Will have maintained residence in the city for at least 30 days before appointment. <br />o Have all civil rights in place or restored. <br />•Interviews conducted on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 <br />•Appointment at January 14, 2020 City Council meeting <br />During the discussion of the appointment at the November 26, 2019 City Council meeting, it was the <br />consensus of the council that is was critical that the newly appointed councilmember be available to <br />participate in the St. Anthony Village annual strategic planning sessions on Thursday, January 16, 2020 and <br />Friday, January 17, 2020 along with the League of Minnesota Cities Newly Elected Conference on Friday, <br />January 24, 2020 and Saturday, January 25, 2020. <br />On Wednesday, January 8, 2020, Mayor Stille and Councilmembers Jenson, Randle and Walker <br />interviewed all four of the applicants. <br />55
