St. Anthony Village <br />Planning Commission <br />Training <br />January 21, 2020 <br />Planning and Zoning -Introduction <br />•Land Use Planning is an activity permitted to <br />local governments by the State –MN Stat 462 <br />governs planning and zoning. <br />•Prior to our current zoning process, land use <br />was regulated by nuisance law. <br />•Nuisances are infringements on property rights <br />held by another person. <br />•Property rights include the right to use one’s <br />property for one’s own benefit, and not to be <br />unreasonably interfered with by others.
