This investment will ensure sustainable excellence of the City’s most <br />valuable asset – our staff. <br /> <br />Foundations For Intercultural Development <br />In 2019, the city held Foundations For Intercultural <br />Development for all employees, and invited staff from <br />the Mississippi Watershed Management Organization. <br />The training was facilitated by Wilder Foundation. <br />The workshop targeted skills in everyday cross- <br />cultural interactions and offered tools for successfully <br />building inclusion in the workplace. The objective was <br />to be able to clarify the influences of your own culture <br />on values and beliefs. And implement strategies for <br />bringing up differences from a place of curiosity and <br />remain in dialogue when cultural misunderstandings happen. <br /> <br />Intercultural Communication Workshop <br />In this session, trainers focused on increasing cultural self-awareness, and deepening <br />cross-cultural understanding related to the various patterns of communication and expression <br />of emotions. This session presented a more strategic application of intercultural communication <br />and conflict management building blocks. The objective was to build understanding of <br />individual communication characteristics of direct/indirect strategies and attributes of <br />emotionally expressive/restrained approaches. And understand ways to be flexible in <br />approaches to communication and conflict. <br />
