<br />2019 Annual Report • Administration • St. Anthony Village, Minnesota <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />32 <br /> <br />Safety Committee <br />The Safety Committee is comprised of employees representing all City departments. The <br />purpose of the Safety Committee is to promote continued training, education, and <br />communication on safety-related issues to all city employees and to provide and maintain a safe <br />and healthy work environment. In 2019, the City of St. Anthony safety committee met nine <br />times throught the year to discuss and address any safety related issues or topics that are <br />occurring within the various City facilities. The Committee’s responsibilities are to: <br />• Serve as a means of communication for employees regarding workplace safety policies, <br />hazards, issues, and concerns; <br />• Review and make recommendations regarding the City’s safety program; <br />• Review incidents and make recommendations to prevent future occurrences; <br />• Conduct walk through safety inspections at city facilities to identify, educate, and <br />correct any safety issues or concerns that may arise at the various City facilities. <br /> <br />Government Alliance on Race and Equity (GARE) Cohort <br />The City of St. Anthony joined the 2017 cohort <br />comprised of a number of governmental entities <br />from around Minnesota that are working with the <br />Government Alliance on Race and Equity (GARE) <br />to advance racial equity in government. GARE is <br />working to advance racial equity and increase <br />opportunities for all communities and building <br />the field of practice to advance racial equity <br />within and through government, which is to our <br />collective benefit. <br />GARE's focus is on normalizing conversations about race, operationalizing new policies, <br />practices and organizational cultures, and organizing to achieve racial equity. We are seeing <br />more and more jurisdictions that are making a commitment to achieving racial equity, focusing <br />on the power and influence of our own institutions, and working in partnership across sectors <br />and with the community to maximize impact.
