2019 Annual Report • Public Works Department • St. Anthony Village, Minnesota

8

CENTRAL PARK SPLASH PAD WATER REUSE PROJECT
As part of the 2018 Street and Utility Improvement Project the installation of a force main and
lift station near the Central Park splash pad was installed. In 2017, Public Works staff
completed retrofits to the splash pad equipment and established new hours of operations to
reduce the amount of potable water used for the splash pad. The force main and lift station
went on line in the summer of 2019.
With the addition of the force main and lift station, the water used for the splash pad is
collected and routed to the existing water reuse facility which currently collects and reuses
stormwater runoff for irrigation at Central Park. The addition of the runoff from the splash pad
has eliminated the need for potable water use for irrigation as splash pad use increases with hot,
dry weather. In addition to providing water for irrigation in Central Park, the school district
modified their irrigation system to utilize reuse water for their irrigation needs, resulting in all
25 acres at Central Park being irrigated with reuse water.
