REPORTS FROM CITY MANAGER AND COUNCIL MEMBERS. 10
11
Councilmember Webster stated she attended Coffee with the Council at Autumn Woods with 12
Mayor Stille on Saturday, February 15th. There were about a dozen community members that 13
attended that event. She really liked the event and getting to know people. She also noted on 14
February 21st, Metro Cities hosted a session put on by the Minnesota Housing Departments on 15
how to access State resources for affordable housing. There was some remarkable data on the 16
shortage of housing across the State along with the shortage of affordable housing as well. She also indicated she has a goal to 19
meet with all of the department heads and has appreciated meeting with Chief Mangseth, and 20
Ms. Rueckert the City’s Finance Director along with Mr. Hartman the Public Works Director. 21
Two things she has appreciated about those meetings is it has allowed her to learn more about 22
their commitment, not only to the City but to the residents as well and it has also been fun to 23
learn more about their three, five- and ten-year goals for their departments. 24
25
Councilmember Randle stated on behalf of Sister Cities they are still looking for residents who 26
are willing to host their friends from Salo and if anyone is interested in hosting to contact himself 27
or Bonnie Brever or anyone from Sister Cities. He noted the date’s needs are July 25, 2020 to 28
August 4, 2020. 29
30
Mayor Stille stated on February 12, 2020 he attended the Hickory Hog ribbon cutting ceremony 31
and this is a unique business that started out of a food truck. He noted this is a homegrown 32
product and the food is really good. 33
34
Councilmember Jenson stated on February 14th he attended the Ramsey County Local League of 35
Governments and at the meeting were guest speakers Susan Brower, the State Demographer and 36
Julie Woods, the Ramsey County Policy Director, and they are part of this Complete Count 37
Committee that is represented by the State and talked a lot about how the State is going to ensure 38
access to apartment buildings for the Census. There was also talk about expanding or developing 39
the strategic direction on moving community engagement activities. He explained on February 40
15th he also attended the Coffee with the Council event. Three things talked about were trying to 41
understand the affordable housing system and process how that works and there was talk about 42
some developments and identification along Kenzie Terrace and advertising on fencing. Plus, 43
the group really wanted to make a point that a lot of good things that are happening in St. 44
Anthony that could be better published. He thought it was a very good meeting.
