The property is zoned R-1,
Single Family Residential, and is surrounded primarily by single family neighborhood in all directions.
The Applicants have provided a diagram
of the property showing the location
and dimensions of the chicken coop in
relation to their property. The proposed
location runs parallel to the detached
garage on the property, placed along
the east side of the property and north
of the garage. The proposed chicken
coop structure would be approximately
4 feet wide by 6 feet long, with a fenced
“run” of 6 feet by 12 feet, extending
west from the coop. The application
states that the height of the coop will
be 4 feet tall and the run is proposed to
be 6 feet tall.
According to the site plans provided by
the applicants, the coop is proposed to be located along the side of the detached garage and follow
similar setbacks of approximately 10 feet from the east rear yard boundary line. For accessory buildings,
a setback requirement from adjoining side and rear lot lines is 5 feet. The chicken coop will meet all
setback requirements. The chicken coop will be shielded by the garage from the neighbors to the south
and by a privacy fence from the neighbors to the north. The neighbors to the east of the property will
only see the back of the proposed chicken coop.

45
