COMMUNITY STADIUM TURF <br />The installation of artificial turf would double the number of groups, participants, and events able to use the stadium each year. <br />COMMUNITY <br />IMPACT <br />CO-CURRICULAR <br />IMPACT <br />COST <br />COMPARISON <br />Concerns about field use and availability have <br />escalated public relations issues for the community <br />and school district. <br />There are over 2,000 <br />youth users of Central Park <br />each year! <br />Cultivating strong community <br />relationships is a strategic <br />direction for the school district. <br />Create a centerpoint <br />for the community <br />Reduce the impact on <br />other facilities, including <br />Wilshire Park fields <br />Preliminary Soil Study conducted by Braun Intertec <br />shows stadium field could support artificial turf and track <br />$ <br />The district has received <br />a $280K Hennpin County <br />grant for the installation <br />of turf <br />Grant matching partners <br />have pledged $20K <br />Approximate cost: <br />$1.2M for turf,$2.4M with track <br />Current Maintenance: $20K /year <br />Artifical turf maintenance: $5K/year <br />A new running track would <br />be a community space- <br />accessible for public use <br />CURRICULAR <br />IMPACT <br />Artificial Turf would reduce <br />use of irrigation water, <br />fertilizers, and pesticides <br />in Central Park <br />Ability for St. Anthony to <br />host a track team; <br />currently 50+high school <br />students co-op with and <br />travel to Spring Lake Park <br />Teams and groups would have <br />extended use in late fall and <br />early spring <br />40+ Middle School students <br />currently participate in track <br />without a track <br />Fewer transportation <br /> needs/expenses <br />Significantly increased <br />availability for youth/ <br />Sports Boosters teams <br />Outdoor PE Access <br />more months of the year <br />Reliable outdoor access <br />more hours of the day <br />Safer Activity Space <br />Better ability to implment lifelong <br />activity curriculum- jogging, running, <br />interval training, etc. <br />31 <br />365 <br />Ability to support <br />new and emerging activities Opportunity to host more <br />home games on one site
