CITY OF SAINT ANTHONY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />RESOLUTION 20-048 <br />RESOLUTION TO EXTEND PERIOD OF LOCAL EMERGENCY <br />WHEREAS, Minnesota Statute § 12.29, subd. 1 allows the governing body of a local <br />government to extend the period of a local emergency declared pursuant to Minnesota <br />Statute § 12.29, subd. 1. <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor of St. Anthony has found that the following emergency situation exists: <br />•World Health Organization has declared a novel coronavirus- COVID-19 as a Pandemic. <br />•Cases of the COVID-19 continue to increase at a rapid rate, stressing the local healthcare <br />system. <br />•Federal, State, and County Health Agencies have enacted social distancing mandates in <br />an effort to reduce risk and stress on the healthcare system. <br />•The expectations on local resources and services will be stressed and there is a need to <br />increase our local operations and spending capabilities to respond to the growing needs of <br />the community we serve. <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor has declared that the situation constitutes a local emergency; <br />WHEREAS, the City Council agrees with the Mayor’s findings and further finds that the local <br />emergency will last for more than three days; <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council that: <br />1)The local emergency is recognized as continuing until such time the State of Minnesota <br />peacetime state emergency declaration is rescinded and the City Council adopts a resolution <br />rescinding the local emergency. <br />2) This declaration of a local emergency will invoke the City’s Emergency Management Plan. <br />The portions that are necessary for response to and recovery from the emergency must be used. <br />Adopted this 12th day of May, 2020. <br />_____________________________ <br />Randy Stille, Mayor <br />ATTEST: ____________________________ <br />Nicole Miller, City Clerk <br />Reviewed for administration: ______________________________ <br />Mark Casey, City Manager <br />57
