ROLL CALL. 10 <br /> 11 <br />Commissioners Present: Chair Therese Bellinger, Commissioners James Niemi, Patrick Penner, 12 <br />and Jessica Rengstorf. 13 <br /> 14 <br />Absent: Commissioner Renee Reed 15 <br /> 16 <br />Also Present: Public Works Director Jay Hartman, School Board Representative 17 <br />Cassandra Palmer; Student Liaison Sarah Jo Carre; Citizens for 18 <br />Sustainability Lona Doolan and Dan Kunitz; School District 19 <br />Representative Troy Urdahl; Superintendent Renee Corneille, and 20 <br />Sports Boosters Representative Gary Goldsmith. 21 <br /> 22 <br />III. APPROVAL OF THE MARCH 9, 2020, PARKS AND ENVIRONMENTAL 25 <br />COMMISSION MEETING AGENDA. 26 <br /> 27 <br />Motion by Commissioner Niemi, seconded by Commissioner Penner, to approve the March 9, 28 <br />2020, Parks Commission agenda. 29 <br /> 30 <br />Motion carried unanimously. 31 <br /> 32 <br />V. APPROVAL OF THE DECEMBER 2, 2019 REGULAR PARKS AND 33 <br />ENVIRONMENTAL COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES. 34 <br /> 35 <br /> Chair Bellinger asked for any changes to the minutes and given there were none stated the 36 <br />minutes would stand as presented. 37 <br /> 38 <br />VI. PRESENTATIONS. 39 <br /> 40 <br />A. Friends of the Parks Update 41 <br /> 42 <br />Ms. Lona Doolan introduced herself and will be presenting the March update. She stated 43 <br />where things were left last fall with the bee lawn being seeded in November 2019, the seed-44 <br />sowing demonstration garden is awaiting Spring planting and the plug demonstration garden 45 <br />was planted in September 2019 with winter cover. Phase 3 will be seeding a pollinator garden. 46 <br />The final 25’ garden will demonstrate the sowing method: starting seeds in the garden rather 47 <br />than starting with transplants. Ms. Doolan reviewed the opportunities for 2020 including 48 <br />Expanding Bee Laws – The State of Minnesota is offering Legume to Lawns grants to convert 49
