PROCLAMATIONS AND RECOGNITIONS
A. 75t" Anniversary of St. Anthony Village
Mr. Barry Tedlund, St. Anthony Historical Society made a presentation to the City Council.
Councilmember Walker indicated in the presentation it showed two tornados came through the
community and he wondered if that was correct. Mr. Tedlund stated that was correct. He
explained in 1951 a tornado hit in the shopping center on the south end at Red Owl and then
again in 1984 quite a bit of the City was hit, including Apache Plaza.
Councilmember Walker asked if Mayor Haik was still a resident of St. Anthony. Mayor Stille
indicated former Mayor Haik passed away a couple of years ago.
Councilmember Walker thought open enrollment pretty much saved the high school and now it
seems like the opposite. He also thought it was a blessing for the City to have Silverwood Park.
