Dear Mayor Stille and Council Members, I am strongly opposed to the car wash proposed to be built adjacent to my condo residence at Kenzington. My number one concern is for my health and the health of my senior neighbors. As a senior, my health is more vulnerable than a younger person's. I survived cancer six years ago and I also have asthma. Exhaust fumes from many idling cars and harsh chemical cleaning agents would both effect my lungs. Those fumes create poor air quality. The exhaust fumes would be added to the traffic that we already have on the busy roads in our immediate neighborhood. On a day with little or no wind, or with smog alerts, the air quality will be significantly worse. The exhaust from multiple cars idling for nine (or even fifteen!) hours a day, every day will create an unhealthy environment. Please remember that retired seniors spend many more hours at home than working people. Can any of you, in truth, say you would welcome a car wash bordering your home and yard? Part of our Village's stated mission is to be "walkable, sustainable and safe". How does this proposal align with our mission?? One businessman wants to build a car wash. He and his family will not be negatively impacted by it. We neighbors will. There are a lot of us, and we don't want our lives to be negatively impacted in multiple ways...our health, peace and quiet, property values, and more.
