2020 Annual Report • Administration • St. Anthony Village, Minnesota

11

teams worked together to rotate on-site staff while keeping the front office of City Hall open for
residents.
CITY FACILITY CLEANING, DISINFECTING PROCESS
All City facilities, including City Hall, increased the professional cleaning schedule to daily
cleaning and disinfecting, while also installing air ionization filter technology to all HVAC
systems to help circulate and clean the air more frequently. Staff was also provided ample
amounts of disinfecting supplies and masks to use when interacting with fellow staff and the
public.
ACCESS TO PUBLIC FACILITIES
Determining what facilities remained open for public access was decided by following state
mandates, and MDH guidance and recommendations. For example, St. Anthony splash pads
closed were closed during the summer months, along with warming houses/bathrooms closed
at outdoor skating rinks. And both municipal liquor store locations were closed during a period
of time in March and April due to state mandate. Due to MDH requirements, masks were also
mandated in all St. Anthony public places.
PUBLIC EVENTS
Public events that typically take place on an annual basis were either canceled, like the Fire
Department Open House and Village Big Rigs event held each fall, the Cops vs Kids Basketball
Challenge held in the spring, or modified to adhere to the MDH guidelines (such as the Santa
on the Fire Truck event). Limiting community exposure through social distancing and wearing
masks, or holding events virtually (Coffee with the Council via Zoom), helped provide safe and
alternative options for community engagement and access to public resources (such as the
cardboard recycling event held in the summer. The Fire Department also held a mask drive for
the community in April.
