2020 Annual Report • Administration • St. Anthony Village, Minnesota

33

FOOD SCRAPS COLLECTION (ORGANICS
RECYCLING)
In April 2018, the City Council approved a food scraps
collection (organics recycling) pilot program for all St.
Anthony residents. The Parks and Environmental Commission
discussed placement of the drop-off site, and in June, the City
Council approved final site location on the south end of the
Community Center parking lot (between the Police
Department and the tennis courts).
City staff collaborated with Ramsey County to implement the food scraps collection (organics
recycling) drop-off site, allowing Ramsey County to build and operate the site at no additional
cost to the city. The drop-off site was constructed and operational just before the end of 2018.
This site is open 24/7 and compostable bags are located in a dispenser at the site. Free starter
kits are also available at City Hall.
The organic site dumpsters are emptied every Wednesday by Waste Management. Waste
Management conduct two audits on our organics site every year. 2020, the site saw a lot of
traffic and we expect usage to increase in 2021.
*average weight per week
0
500
1000
1500
2000
2500
3000
3500
4000
2019 2020
Organics Collection Site
February August
