St Charles 3rd Grader Takes 1st Place in Water Conservation Poster Contest
This past December the Parks and Environmental Commission hosted their annual Water Conservation Poster Contest. Those participating were the 3rd graders of St
Charles and 4th graders of Wilshire Elementary Schools. The criteria was to illustrate how one can “Save Water at Home”. Any drawing utensil could be utilized.
Students were limited to using an 8 x 11 sheet of paper. The judging was based on originality, creativity, and use of color. Gift certificates were awarded to each
winner and could be used at any 3 Rivers Parks.
The ideas presented by all were imaginative and thoughtful. It made it very difficult for us Commissioners to decide on who should win. The poster that really stood
out was 3rd grader, Bella Klements of St Charles. Her demonstration of both great color, placement, and clear water saving examples received a unanimous vote. The
remaining 2nd through 4th placements also illustrated unique and artistic ideas.
We would like to thank all of the participants and the teachers who aided in getting our contest distributed.
See if you can put into practice at home these winning and water saving ideas.
CONGRATULATIONS WINNERS!
1st Place—Bella Klement, 3rd Grade-St Charles
2nd Place—Eli Jordahl Redlin, 4th Grade-Wilshire
3rd Place—Elizabeth Mandyck, 4th Grade-Wilshire
Runner Up and “Best Original”—Addie Blenkush, 4th Grade-Wilshire
Chosen for
most colorful,
clear, and
concise.
Judges notes:
