St. Anthony 2040 Comprehensive Plan Chapter 6: Transportation <br /> <br />93 <br /> <br />EXISTING AND PLANNED NON-MOTORIZED TRANSPORTATION <br />NETWORK <br />This section addresses network needs for walking and bicycling within St. Anthony <br />Village. This section also addresses the needs of people using wheelchairs and <br />assistive mobility devices such as mobility scooters, as they are considered <br />pedestrians. <br />Enhancing the non-motorized elements of the St. Anthony Village transportation <br />system is a key goal in terms of improving transportation sustainability in the City <br />and in the region. This approach gives residents an alternative to driving, supports <br />transportation options for people who do not have consistent access to a personal <br />vehicle, and encourages healthy activities and lifestyles. <br />This section includes information on the existing non-motorized transportation <br />network within St. Anthony Village, connections to land use planning, the planned <br />local non-motorized transportation network, and the planned regional non- <br />motorized transportation network. This section also includes recommendations for <br />intersection improvements and design best practices. <br />Existing Non-Motorized Transportation Network <br />The non-motorized transportation network in St. Anthony Village is comprised <br />primarily of sidewalks and one regional trail. As shown in FIGURE 6-12, there is <br />existing sidewalk along one or both sides of the following roadways: <br />• St. Anthony Boulevard <br />• Kenzie Terrace <br />• Stinson Boulevard <br />• CSAH 44/Silver Lake Road <br />• Old Highway 8 <br />• Highcrest Road <br />• 29th Avenue <br />• 33rd Avenue <br />• 37th Avenue <br />• 39th Avenue <br />• Silver Lane <br />• Chandler Drive <br />• Foss Road <br />Additionally, there is one regional multi-use trail located within the City of St. <br />Anthony Village and two others that are located adjacent to the City. The Northeast <br />Diagonal Regional Trail is an existing regional trail that is managed and maintained <br />by the Three Rivers Park District. The trail runs along the south side of New <br />Brighton Boulevard from Broadway Street NE to the boundary with the City of <br />Roseville, where it connects to the County Road B-2 Trail in Roseville.
