City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br />February 22, 2022 <br />Page 2 <br />• More connections across the interstate create better community connections. <br />A community feedback survey was conducted February 13 — March 8, 2019 and 2,269 responses <br />were received. The survey targeted residents, businesses, visitors and commuters along I-35W. <br />People who live, work and visit this stretch of I-35W agree that congestion, trip reliability, <br />connections between highways and safety on and across I-35W could be improved. <br />8 An online, on -demand, and interactive public open houses were held May 15 — June 21, 2020 to <br />9 confirm that the problems identified are in line with what the community thinks. Feedback <br />10 opportunities were offered in a brief online survey and comment form. The top themes from <br />11 open-ended comments included: <br />12 • Proposed solutions for specific locations along this stretch of I-35W. <br />13 • Prioritize pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure and expand facilities. <br />14 • Expand transit facilities and infrastructure. <br />15 • Consider environmental impacts and reduce pollution. <br />16 • Reduce highway congestion. <br />17 <br />18 Mr. Tag stated long-term solutions were developed to address bridge and pavement conditions, <br />19 increase mobility, improve travel time reliability, improve transit advantage and improve <br />20 connectivity across 35W and interaction with community. <br />21 <br />22 He reviewed freeway crossing approach and noted freeway crossings connect the community. <br />23 There is an opportunity to redesign crossings at key bridges as part of 1-35W concept <br />24 development. This process begins with input on existing challenges and opportunities. The <br />25 opportunities to improve high -stress crossings were indicated on a map. <br />26 <br />27 The Study Timeline is currently in the Concept Development, Concept Evaluation, and <br />28 Identifying Design. He asked about the solutions and how the public would have an opportunity to <br />36 comment. Ms. Roth stated there would be opportunities via social media or meetings via zoom <br />37 for residents to comment. They will reach out to City Staff when the dates have been determined <br />38 for the presentations. Mayor Stille thanked Mr. Tag and Ms. Roth for their work on this. <br />39 <br />40 II1.
