Captain Spiess stated he looked at 2019 vs 2021 and some of that is part of <br />2 the Zero Death Grant Program. Some of the decrease is due to fewer medicals and fewer alarms. <br />3 Councilmember Walker referred to the elected training and what types of training was taken. <br />4 Captain Spiess stated the elected training is vetted by the department to ensure it follows the <br />5 strategic plan. Councilmember Walker asked if the community engagement events are driven by <br />6 the Police Department or suggestions from residents. Captain Spiess stated a survey was sent out <br />7 for input on the Citizens Academy. The Police Department is always looking for ideas. <br />8 Councilmember Walker indicated interest in seeing what other cities are collecting as far as the <br />9 drug collection. <br />10 <br />11 Councilmember Webster thanked Captain Spiess for his presentation. She is pleased that the <br />12 programs within the Police Department match with highly successful organizations and <br />13 employee satisfaction. She is very proud of the Police Department. She asked about the traffic <br />14 stops and asked if the stops by race will be presented. Captain Spiess stated that data will be <br />15 available later this year. <br />16 <br />17 Councilmember Randle stated that was an excellent report. He is impressed with the amount of <br />18 work that has gone into community engagement. <br />19 <br />20 Mayor Stille thanked Captain Spiess for the presentation. Mayor Stille asked how Council can <br />21 support the Police Department and if something is needed it will be considered seriously. The <br />22 Department has Council's support. This ties into the Police Department's Mission Statement <br />23 where people want to work. A pamphlet has been created regarding the Police Department. <br />24 <br />25 C. 2022 Parks & Environmental Commission Work Plan. <br />26 <br />27 City Manager Yunker reviewed the Parks and Environmental Commission 2022 Work Plan Draft <br />28 for the Council. This was also reviewed at the Goals Setting Session. <br />29 <br />30 Motion by Councilmember Jenson, seconded by Councilmember Walker, to approve the 2022 <br />31 Parks & Environmental Commission Work Plan as presented. <br />32 <br />33 Motion carried 5-0. <br />34 <br />35 D. Resolution 22-027 — Supporting the "Mayor's Challenge for Water Conservation". <br />36 <br />37 City Manager Yunker reviewed the Wyland Mayor's Challenge is an annual month -long <br />38 campaign, from April 1-30, to promote drought resiliency and protect water quality. This is a <br />39 friendly competition to see which city is the most "water wise" in the nation, where residents <br />40 make a pledge to change behaviors in their water consumption at home and reduce human <br />41 impact on lakes, rivers, streams, and other water systems. <br />42 <br />43 All residents are invited to join in the effort to reduce St. Anthony's water consumption and <br />44 preserve our water resources. Students and teachers can join the effort by participating using the <br />45 educational resources available on the website. <br />46 <br />
