MEMORANDUM <br />To:Saint Anthony Village City Council <br />From:Charlie Yunker, City Manager <br />Date:October 25, 2022 City Council Work Session <br />Request:Council Onboarding <br />BACKGROUND <br />At its May 24, 2022 Work Session, the Council reviewed and discussed enhancements to the Council onboarding <br />process, and discussed extensively the proposed shared values statements provided in the packet. Various <br />verbiage changes were proposed and discussed and some left to staff to propose final wording. The Council also <br />discussed headers for each statement and the discussed ended with identifying single-word headings, and <br />constructing those headings an acronym for magnanimity or magnanimous. Attached are three versions of <br />shared values to select for the Onboarding Manual. <br />Staff reworked the onboarding PowerPoint into a manual format for easier readability for new Councilmembers. <br />A draft version is attached, and will continue to be updated as the onboarding process revisions are completed. <br />Staff has also worked on a crisis communications table-top exercise. When it is ready, a date and time will be <br />identified to conduct the exercise, and then integrate anything desired into the Onboarding Manual. <br />Work to complete from this point: <br />Crisis communication table top exercise with staff <br />Council discussion on open meeting law, conflicts of interest and ethics (utilizing LMC or City Attorney) <br />Council discussion on equity & inclusion in policymaking (preparation session for Goal Setting?) <br />DISCUSSION ITEMS FOR COUNCIL FEEDBACK <br />Below are the specific items for discussion and feedback: <br />Which version of the shared values list does the Council wish to add to the manual? <br />Other items to discuss? <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />Three versions of shared values <br />Draft Onboarding Manual
