Planning Commission Regular Meeting Minutes <br />January 17, 2023 <br />Page 5 <br />1 <br />2 Commissioner Erickson stated encouraging beautification would be a benefit to the City. <br />3 <br />4 Chair Socha stated enforcing the Code is important but it makes it difficult to require people <br />5 to beautify their property monetarily. <br />6 <br />7 Commissioner Rude suggested a contest to beautify their properties. Just don’t want things to <br />8 get worse. <br />9 <br />10 Chair Socha summarized the requests for her to bring up at the goal setting meeting. <br />11 <br />D.12 Planning Commission Training Documents. <br />13 <br />14 Mr. Grittman provided training materials on Planning and Zoning Basics. This is information <br />15 for Planning Commissioners and others interested in the regulation of land use in Minnesota. <br />16 This information was written by Northwest Associated Consultants, Inc. <br />17 <br />18 A PowerPoint was provided titled St. Anthony Village Planning Commission Orientation. <br />19 Included in the PowerPoint was information on Planning and Zoning Introduction, Meeting <br />20 Conduct – Roberts’ Rules of Order, Comprehensive Plan, Zoning and Zoning Ordinances, <br />21 Conditional Use Permits, Interim Use Permits, Variances, Decision-Making, Findings, 60- <br />22 Day Rule, Subdivisions and Plats, Planned Unit Development, and Nonconformities. <br />23 <br />24 Commissioner Morita thanked Mr. Grittman for the information. He does not necessarily need <br />25 another training session but perhaps add to a future agenda to bring up questions. <br />26 <br />27 Chair Socha stated she appreciates the information. <br />28 <br />29 V.OTHER BUSINESS - NONE <br />30 <br />31 VI.COMMUNITY FORUM. <br />32 <br />33 No one appeared to address the Planning Commission. <br />34 <br />35 VII.INFORMATION AND ANNOUNCEMENTS. <br />36 <br />37 Mr. Grittman stated the maps on the back wall of the Council Chambers were part of the <br />38 Students in Government Program. The student liaison Alayna Peterson was part of that <br />39 program. <br />40 <br />41 Ms. Peterson stated it is their AP Government Class that students could sign up for the day <br />42 trip to the City. They toured the City facilities. <br />43 <br />44 The next Planning Commission Meeting will be held on February 21, 2023. <br />45 <br />46 VIII. ADJOURNMENT.
