City Council Regular Meeting Minutes April 11, 2023 Page 3 1 Councilmember Webster thanked Chief Sitarz for the overview. She is grateful for the 2 minute 2 response time. Chief Sitarz stated they are at 2 minutes 54 seconds for Code 3 calls. 3 4 Councilmember Jenson asked Chief Sitarz to pass onto the staff how privileged St. Anthony is to 5 have such a great department. The level of training that is provided is outstanding. On the 6 number of calls, is there ever more than one call at the same time and Chief Sitarz stated just 7 today there were two calls at the same time. At this point the same high level of service can be 8 provided. 9 10 Councilmember Walker stated he appreciates the hands-on experience the City Council obtained 11 to see what fire fighters need to do. It was a once in a lifetime experience. He asked about the 12 file of life which is a program. If a person has advanced directives they have the availability to 13 make those wishes known to the fire department. This also includes medical history, medications 14 used. The file of life form is available at the fire department. He asked about the dollar loss 15 increase in 2019 and why it was so high. Chief Sitarz stated it was an arson fire in an apartment 16 building. 17 18 Mayor Stille stated the training event held in Maplewood proved to him he could not be a fire 19 fighter. The Mission is to “Promote a 26 high quality of life to those we serve through outstanding city services”. The Vision is “Saint 27 Anthony is a small and inclusive Village where all people can live, work, learn, play and thrive”. 28 29 The Core Values S.E.R.V.I.C.E. – The St. Anthony Way.
