Resolution 23-024 — Approving Donations and Grants for Quarter 1, 2023. <br />Motion by Councilmember Jenson, seconded by Councilmember Webster, to approve the <br />Consent Agenda items. <br />Motion carried 5-0. <br />PUBLIC HEARING - NONE. <br />REPORTS FROM COMMISSION AND STAFF - NONE. <br />A. Fire Department Annual Report <br />Fire Chief Mark Sitarz presented the St. Anthony Fire Department 2022 Annual Report. There <br />are 29 total Staff including 7 full-time Career and 22 Paid On -Call 5 of the paid on -call are <br />current rookies. Nine of the fire fighters are women. There are two part-time employees that <br />handle Housing and Rental Compliance. In 2022 there were 1668 calls for service which is an <br />85.12% increase over 2001 calls (901). The call breakdown for 2022 were 29 Fires, 38 <br />Hazardous Conditions, 261 Service Calls, 109 Good Intent, 81 False Alarms, 1 Weather Related <br />and 1,149 Medical Calls. The dollar loss from fire was $11,928. <br />Chief Sitarz reviewed the Hazmat Team. There were 4 calls in 2022 including: Mercury Spill, <br />Chemical Suicide: 1 DOA, 1 Rescue, 2 Treated, Chemical Reaction at a Business and Water <br />Treatment Plant Chlorine Release. <br />St. Anthony Fire Department had 1,805 hours of training documented which averages 62.24 <br />hours per firefighter. Training consisted of: EMT, Live Fire, Hose line advancement, Vehicle <br />Extrication, and Strategies and Tactics. <br />Fire crews' community outreach was continued at: Local Schools, High School, Local <br />Organizations, Senior Living Community, Aquatennial EMS Standby, Night to Unite and <br />Summer Survival School. The Open House is the largest event of the year. Captain Maddie Jaros <br />leads the planning of this event. <br />Chief Sitarz reviewed the Housing and Rental Code and stated there were 862 contacts with <br />residents and businesses and 195 total rental inspections. <br />The department is looking for more on -call fire fighters. <br />Councilmember Randle stated he appreciates the Fire Department and the work they do. He <br />asked what chemical suicide is. Chief Sitarz stated it is a decision to end life by mixing <br />chemicals together. The Hazmat team needs to deal with it. <br />
