ANTHONY <br />2 CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING MINUTES <br />3 SEPTEMBER 26, 2023 <br />4 <br />5 CALL TO ORDER. <br />6 <br />7 Mayor Stille called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. <br />8 <br />9 PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE. <br />10 <br />11 Mayor Stille invited the Council and audience to join in the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />12 <br />13 ROLL CALL. <br />14 <br />15 Present: Mayor Stille, Councilmembers Jenson, Randle, Walker, and Webster. <br />16 <br />17 Absent:None. <br />18 <br />19 Also Present:City Manager Charlie Yunker, Police Sergeant Jim South, Beth Denzer, Captain Jeff <br />20 Spiess, Police Chief Jon Mangseth, Fire Captain Mattie Jaros, St. Anthony/New <br />21 Brighton Schools Superintendent Renee Corneille and Thomas Brever. <br />22 <br />23 <br />24 CONSIDERATION, DISCUSSION, AND POSSIBLE ACTION ON ALL OF THE FOLLOWING <br />25 ITEMS. <br />26 <br />I.27 APPROVAL OF SEPTEMBER 26, 2023 CITY COUNCIL MEETING AGENDA. <br />28 <br />29 Motion by Councilmember Randle, seconded by Councilmember and Webster, to approve the <br />30 City Council Meeting Agenda of September 26, 2023 as presented. <br />31 <br />32 Motion carried 5-0. <br />33 <br />34 II.PROCLAMATIONS AND RECOGNITION. <br />35 <br />A.36 Citizen Life Saving Award. <br />37 <br />38 Police Sergeant Jim South stated on August 28, 2023 at 6 :15 p.m. Emily Thorton was on a walk <br />39 with her son Henrick in the area of Salo Park. Henrick saw a little boy and asked his mother if <br />40 the little boy was alone. Another resident asked Emily if she had seen the little boy cross the <br />41 street alone. Emily watched the little boy jump into the water of Salo Park pond. Emily jumped <br />42 into the water to save the little boy. Sergeant Jim South thanked Emily and Henrick and <br />43 presented them with a certificate. <br />44 <br />B.45 SPIRIT of St. Anthony Award Presentation. <br />46 <br />47 Last year’s SPIRIT award recipient Ms. Beth Denzer read some excerpts from the nominations <br />48 for this year’s award recipient Captain Jeff Spiess of the Police Department. Captain Spiess <br />49 made a few comments stating he is honored to receive this award.
