St.Anthony -New Brighton Schools is proud to be a good steward of taxpayer dollars and is <br />committed to using funds to directly benefit our students and community.If Question 1 is <br />approved,an average St.Anthony home valued at $330,000 would see a property tax increase <br />of $32 per month. <br />Question 2:Renew Capital Projects Levy <br />The Capital Projects levy provides specific funding for the tools used in the classroom to support <br />student learning such as books,classroom materials,computers,and software which is <br />essential for students to develop 21st century skills.Since the Capital Project Levy is a renewal <br />-there will be no increase in taxes for this levy.The Capital Projects levy comes from the <br />district’s Tax Net Capacity (TNC).Question 2 is seeking a renewal at the current rate of 6.198%. <br />Context <br />After hearing from families,students,staff,and community members,we worked together to <br />focus on four key areas of improvement for our school district: <br />Each of these levies will help support our commitment to these community inspired areas of <br />improvement. <br />The state of Minnesota is the number one provider of school funding to school districts.Per the <br />Minnesota Constitution: <br />Uniform System of Public Schools <br />The stability of a republican form of government -depending mainly upon <br />the intelligence of the people,it is the duty of the legislature to establish a <br />general and uniform system of public schools.The legislature shall make <br />such provisions by taxation or otherwise as will secure a thorough and <br />efficient system of public schools throughout the state. <br />The state,in 2003,ended the practice of linking the school funding formula to inflation.Since 2003, <br />although the dollars given to schools has increased,the power of each dollar has decreased due to
