compost pick up program
The city newsletter is a good source of info for me. Maybe community info sessions on some of the
many above -listed topics.
I would like to see more educational opportunities from experts
More education on how to decarbonize
Resources for renewable energy options
All available information
Annual drought tolerant plant sale at reduced rates, rain garden rebates
A climate resource person to call on when needed.
I would love anything where residents and businesses could get discounted pricing by buying as a
block. Could we get good rates on insulation, new appliances, installing electric vehicle chargers,
etc.?
have municipality translate propose indidual owner goals to enable the Village to achieve its goals.
Information about funding opportunities for upgrades to home appliances and energy systems
Encourage Hydrogen powered vehicles, vs. electric
More sidewalks, organics recycling pickup
The city should be more supportive of alternative lawns and not restrict pollinator plantings.
Sidewalks
None
Educate residents on harmful effects of wood smoke so they are more aware.
We already do most of the ideas mentioned
Support to end wood burning. Partner with CenterPoint to provide interest free swap-outs on wood
burning stoves, fireplaces and back yard fire pits. (I.e. convert fire pits to natural gas.) Help
homeowners come up with and implement a home/yard/garden sustainability plan, Provide
volunteer opportunities, discussion groups, and opportunities for feedback to city manager, Mayor,
and Council.
City should make clear what exterior/yard alterations/practices are acceptable visually, and provide
how-to's info: i.e., plants vs. grass, liberal solar panel ordinances, science -based info on best watering
practices
Financial incentives
Information about turf grass alternatives - partner with the UMN turf grass research program to get
access to improved turf grass options
Curious about any way the city could help condominium residents to compost . I wish I could
compost it kitchen wastes, but dk how
Enforcement of existing lawn and home maintenance ordinances and creation of new ordinances
which encourage home and yard maintenance.
I'm not certain about how the how the city could support what I am already doing to my efforts to
conserve on water use and more efficiently manage my home and yard.
Transparency and accountability
I think this question is antithetical to community. The city is abdicating responsibility for rallying the
community and providing the necessary incentives and infrastructure to support climate measures.
I think this question is antithetical to community. The city is abdicating responsibility for rallying the
community and providing the necessary incentives and infrastructure to support climate measures.
it would be nice to merge actvities / time that families are already committed to spending with city
climate goals since time is o en our biggest excuse for not doing more. can all the youth sports
teams- and their families- dedicate 1 practice to doing a clean-up day or planting a garden? can one
of the VillageFest activities be a large group project that goes towards climate change goals? can
we make some of these initiatives into friendly competitions, like which team of 5-10 households can
together reduce their water usage or electrical the most over 1 summer with a really cool prize at
the end (paid for by a $50 entry fee per team)?
