2 <br />3.5.Compensatory Time: paid time off granted the EMPLOYEE from the work in lieu of pay for <br />overtime worked. <br />3.6.Department: City of St. Anthony Fire Department. <br />3.7.Department Head: Chief of the St. Anthony Fire Department. <br />3.8.Employee: a member of the exclusively recognized bargaining unit. <br />3.9.Employer: the City of St. Anthony or its designated representative. <br />3.10.Fire Department Education and Training Fund: A separate account in the DEPARTMENT <br />Budget for the purposes of providing training to persons outside the DEPARTMENT. The <br />fund is used to collect class fees, purchase class supplies, and pay class instructors. <br />This fund is administered by the DEPARTMENT HEAD. <br />3.11.Fire Equipment Operator/Fire Fighter: an EMPLOYEE appointed by the EMPLOYER to <br />the job classification of FEO/Fire Fighter. <br />3.12.Fire Captain: An EMPLOYEE appointed by the EMPLOYER to the job <br />classification of Captain. <br />3.13.Fire Marshall/Assistant Fire Chief: An EMPLOYEE appointed by the employer <br />to the job classification of Fire Marshall/Assistant Fire Chief. <br />3.14.Grievance: a dispute over the interpretation or application of this Agreement. <br />3.15.Holiday: days off with pay as specified by this Agreement. <br />3.16.Job Related Course: an educational course so designated by the EMPLOYER. <br />3.17.Lead Instructor: An EMPLOYEE who provides training to persons outside the <br />DEPARTMENT and is leading the class. Designation is for payroll purposes only. <br />3.18.Normal Annual Shift Schedule: 121 normal duty shifts. <br />3.19.Overtime: work performed at the express authorization of the EMPLOYER at times other <br />than an EMPLOYEE'S normal duty shift. <br />3.20 Paramedic- Members that have a valid paramedic license by the Emergency Medical <br />Services Regulatory Board (EMSRB) <br />3.21. Probation: six (6) months from the EMPLOYEE'S date of appointment. <br />3.22.Seniority: the length of continuous employment with the EMPLOYER. <br />3.23.Shift/Normal Duty Shift/Tour of Duty: a consecutive 24 hour time period. <br />3.231 Training Shift: a standard 8 hour time period. <br />3.24.Union: the International Association of Fire Fighters Local No. 3486 St. Anthony Fire <br />Fighters. <br />3.25.Union Member: a member of International Association of Fire Fighters Local 3486 St. <br />Anthony Fire Fighters. <br />3.26.Work Cycle: a 21 day time period chosen by the EMPLOYER.
