City of St. Anthony Village <br />CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION <br />Minutes <br />February 5, 2024 <br />Present: <br />Mayor & Council: <br />Mayor Wendy Webster, Councilmembers Lona Doolan, Jan Jenson, Thomas Randle, and Andrea <br />Stephens. <br />Absent: <br />None <br />Staff: <br />City Manager Charlie Yunker <br />Call to Order: <br />Mayor Webster called the Work Session to order at 5:30 p.m. <br />1.Parks & Environmental Commission Interviews <br />Mayor Webster explained the role of the Parks and Environmental Commission. The applications <br />submitted by all candidates were provided for Council review. <br />Five candidates for the two Parks and Environmental Commission will be interviewed this evening by the <br />following schedule: <br />5:30 p.m.April Chu <br />5:45 p.m.Daniel Bakke <br />6:00 p.m.Jessica Swiontek <br />6:15 p.m.Jill Carey – Interview was not conducted. <br />6:30 p.m.Dan Kunitz <br />All candidates were asked the following questions: <br />1.Tell us about yourself and your interest in serving on the Parks and Environmental Commission. <br />2.St. Anthony has aging parks and a new Climate Action Plan which we will have to prioritize. <br />Describe a time when you have had to prioritize long term projects versus short term initiatives. <br />3.What is your opinion on the importance of public engagement on the decision making process <br />and how would you go about soliciting input from the community? <br />4.The Commission is sometimes asked to consider topics that may not be supported by all <br />residents. Describe a time when you had to balance conflicting opinions when making a <br />decision. <br />5.We recently adopted a Climate Action Plan that includes actions for both the City and the <br />Community to take up. What strategies would you use to engage the Community in <br />sustainability efforts? <br />6.How do you stay informed about the latest sustainability research and technology?
