Parks and Environmental Commission Regular Meeting Minutes
June 3, 2024
Page 8

Commissioner Guest asked what kind of education is being done and Mr. Sonterre stated it is
communicated through email blast and on the website.

Commissioner Holliday stated he would not be in favor of a fine. It could be communicated
along with the water bills. City Staff shouldn’t have to administer this in addition to all they
do.

Commissioner Swiontek suggested putting the policy in the newsletter with a reward for those
reading it.

Mr. Sonterre stated they have talked about doing some contest based notice of the Code in the
newsletter. If people cannot do the waterline testing themselves, contact City Hall. Mr.
Yunker stated there has been approximately 300 people that have used.

The consensus of the Commission was to use education first and not a fine based policy.

C.18 Pickleball Location Discussion

Chair Fee reviewed as part of the park tour two locations were looked at. The wellhouse park
has a court currently that is beyond patching. Commissioner Holliday suggested moving the
pickleball location to the Central Park ice rink. Chair Fee had created a pro/con list for both of
those locations which she reviewed in detail for the Commission.

Commissioner Holliday stated she is fully in support of the dual use for the ice rink at Central
Park. That use of that space needs to be maximized.

Commissioner Swiontek noted she would be in favor of using the ice rink by City Hall which
would open the space at the wellhouse for a dog park.

Commissioner Guest stated there are two proposed locations so how do we proceed.

It is helpful for Council to hear what location the Commission thinks would be best.

Chair Fee asked if the Wellhouse court would be removed.

The consensus of the Commission was to further research the Central Park ice rink location
for pickleball.

VIII.COMMUNITY FORUM – NONE.

No one appeared to address the Commission.

IX. ADJOURNMENT.
