Parks and Environmental Commission Regular Meeting Minutes <br />March 10, 2025 <br />Page 4 <br />1 held this year with awards being presented at the last City Council meeting. The Park Summit <br />2 is on Wednesday. <br />3 <br />4 Commissioner Swiontek stated she enjoyed the poster competition and speaking with the <br />5 students. <br />6 <br />7 Commissioner Peterson introduced herself. <br />8 <br />9 VII.OTHER BUSINESS. <br />10 <br />A.11 Energy Action Plan Review <br />12 <br />13 Sustainability Coordinator Minette Saulog reviewed the City started participating in Partners <br />14 in Energy in the spring/summer of 2024 and hosted a series of three planning workshops with <br />15 a community Energy Action Team from July – November. These meetings allowed the City to <br />16 receive feedback and input for the creation of an Energy Action Plan that would align with the <br />17 Climate Plan’s Energy Section. Ms. Saulog presented a PowerPoint draft of the Energy <br />18 Action Plan. The plan is to present an updated draft to the City Council at a work session in <br />19 late March. Adoption of the final draft by City Council is anticipated in early April. Once <br />20 adopted, an implementation period will begin with the support of Partners in Energy, along <br />21 with opportunities to partner closely with the Parks & Environmental Commission for <br />22 outreach and engagement. <br />23 <br />24 The purpose of the Energy Action Plan include: <br />25 Developed in collaboration with Xcel Energy’s Partners in Energy. <br />26 Follow-up to the City’s Climate Plan (adopted 2023) <br />o27 Four focus areas: Energy, Transportation, Water and Waste. <br />o28 Progresses or updates the energy related action items. <br />29 Energy Action Plan Impacts. <br />o30 Saving energy in homes, buildings and public spaces. <br />o31 Saving money community-wide through participation in utility programs. <br />o32 Increasing renewable energy support to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions. <br />o33 Equitably serving all residents and businesses with community-based energy <br />34 actions. <br />35 <br />36 The Vision of the Energy Action Plan is St. Anthony Village prioritizes energy actions that <br />37 support residents and businesses, improve resiliency, and make our community a more <br />38 sustainable place. The Goal is St. Anthony Village will reduce energy-related greenhouse gas <br />39 emissions 80% by 2040. <br />40 <br />41 Ms. Saulog reviewed Focus Areas: <br />42 Energy Efficiency – Improves efficiency of homes, businesses and public facilities. <br />43 Renewable Energy – Increase support of renewable energy in St. Anthony Village. <br />44 Electrification – Increase the adoption of electric appliances and equipment in homes <br />45 and buildings. <br />46
