Arbor Day <br />April 24, 2026 <br />WHEREAS, climate change is a complex problem that impacts all Minnesotans and our ability to thrive; and <br />WHEREAS, the health and longeAty of Minnesota's trees are being afl"ected by changing temperatures and precipitation, <br />more extreme weather events, and increasing pressure from pests, diseases, and invasive species; and <br />WHEREAS, Minnesota is at risk to lose over one billion ash trees due to emerald ash borer, potentially increasing CO2 <br />emissions and flooding; and <br />WHEREAS, a healthy tree canopy decreases temperatures along streets providing cooler spaces in the summertime for <br />recreation and commerce; and <br />WHEREAS, about three-quarters of Mnenesotans get their drinldng water from the forested parts of the state; and <br />WHEREAS, shade from trees protects people from exposure to the sun's UV rays and diminishes heat -related illness; and <br />WHEREAS, trees reduce stormwater runoff and act as a filter, preventing sediments and pollutants from washing into <br />waterways; and <br />WHEREAS, trees capture carbon fionh the atmosphere and store it in their trunks, roots, and soil; and <br />WHEREAS, Minnesotans can help build resilient communities and reduce die negative impacts of climate change One Tree <br />at a Time by planting and caring for tees and by using wood products to store carbon into die future; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I, Wendy Webster, Mayor of SaintAndhony Village, <br />have the distinct honor ofproclaiming <br />April 24, 2026 as Saint Anthony Arbor Day <br />and the month of May 2026 as Arbor Month <br />througlhout saint .Anthony Village, Minnesota. <br />Wendy Webster, Mayor <br />April 14, 2026 <br />
