r, P] <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION <br />Report Date: January 18, 2005 <br />(Meeting Date: January 25, 2005 Agenda Section:Vl, A <br />ITEM DESCRIPTION:. <br />Police Department Contract — 2005 <br />MANAGER'S REVIEW: <br />The contract with Law Enforcement Labor Services, Inc. and the City of St. Anthony was <br />negotiated over the past 30 days. The police union approved the contract during the week <br />of January 10°h. The following is a summary of changes to this one- year contract: <br />Term: January 1, 2005 to December 31, 2005 (one year) <br />Wage: 2 percent <br />Health Insurance: $30 per month family increase. <br />Holiday Pay: 12 hours of pay to reflect 12 hour shifts. <br />Language Change — Deleted lay-off within one classification to lay-offs in inverse order of <br />their seniority. <br />Article 5; Discipline and Discharge; <br />Grievances related to this article shall be initiated by the union at Step 3 of the <br />grievance procedure under article 20. <br />(Article 20; <br />Step 3A — New Step added. <br />If the grievance is not resolved at Step 3 of the grievance procedure, the parties, by mt <br />agreement, may submit the matter to mediation with the Bureau of Mediation Services. <br />Submitting the grievance to mediation preserves timelines for Step 4 of the grievance <br />procedure. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Council approval of Resolution 05-019; Police 2005 Contract. <br />Michael Mornson <br />City Manager <br />
