REPORTS FROM CITU' MANAGER AND COUNCIL MEMBERS. <br />5 City Manager Morrison reported the following: <br />6 @ Silver Lake Village <br />7 A. Applebee's Grand Opening April 18`x'. '],'here will be ribbon cutting at 1.0:30 a.m. and the <br />8 business opens at 11:00 a.m. that morning. <br />9 B. Grand Opening Celebration planned for the summer <br />10 ® Amcon Update: The plan is to finish off the St. Anthony Marketplace project. There will be <br />11 more frequent meetings with the developers. A concept review will be presented to the <br />12 Planning Commission. There will be a minimum of three public hearings, and on the May <br />13 24, the Council will consider the Planning Commission report. Construction of the retail <br />14 would start over the summer, and businesses would open in September. There is money <br />15 available to finish landscaping. <br />16 Sunset Cemetery: There will be a series of six meetings if the public is interested. A text <br />1.7 amendment change will be requested, and there will be application for a Conditional Use <br />1.8 Permit. <br />19 A. Planning — April 19th, May 17th, and June 21st <br />20 B. Council -- May 24th, June 14th, and June 28th <br />21 State of the Cities Report: St. Anthony was featured in this report by the League of <br />22 Minnesota Cities. The report is on the city's web page now, under news events. <br />23 Best. in Landscaping — April 15th: St. Anthony won this award for the Harding Holding <br />24 Ponds. The City was nominated by the ,Minnesota Chapter of Landscapers and Architects. <br />25 history Intern — Sarah Campbell starting April 1.9'x': Victoria Young, professor at St. <br />26 Thomas, helped retain Ms. Campbell. Ms. Campbell's work plan was distributed to the <br />27 Council. <br />28 <br />29 Future issues on the agenda for the next meeting include public hearings for: a liquor license for <br />30 Chipotle, an easement vacation for a church, and the budget for 2006. The Council will hear a <br />31 reading on a Meth Ordinance, and will consider adopting the Meth Ordinance and. waiving the <br />32 second and third readings. Mr. Morrison congratulated the Fire Chief for his work and noted he <br />33 started as Fire Chief a year ago after being in the department a number of years. <br />34 <br />35 Councilmembcr Stille reported he participated in the Pinewood Derby with a'Boy Scout Troop <br />36 on April 2, and noted other city representatives were there. He attended a Village Fest meeting <br />37 on March 28, and stated the date is set for August 5 and 6. One of the discussion points was that <br />38 the community is under the impression that this is a city -sponsored event, however it is funded <br />39 by volunteers and donations from businesses. IIe stated lie dropped one of the State of the Cities <br />40 reports at the library for public viewing. <br />41 <br />42 Councihnember Thuesen report he participated in the Pinewood Derby with Y -Guys and in three <br />43 years, he had minimal success. He attended March 31 Cities Day at the Capital. He explained <br />44 that elected officials across the state attend the League of Minnesota Cities Day at the Capital. <br />45 He said he thought it was important because it gives the opportunity to build relationships. <br />46 Councilmember Thuesen said he would attend the Planning Commission meeting on April 19. <br />
